Pay Day Loans

A fast financial solution designed to help employees avoid costly informal borrowing and meet urgent short-term financial needs before payday.

20% per month

Katapila and Banki Mkhondes are the order of the day at most workplaces in recent times. Katapila or money sharks may charge up to 100% interest per month, while Banki Mkhondes may demand between 25% and 50%. Formal banks offering payday loans may charge between 20% and 30% per month.

FMC payday loans are designed to rescue employees from this trap. The facility is available at 20% per month, with no other charges levied on the loan facility. The minimum loan amount is MK10,000.00, while the debt service capacity determines the limit, up to MK1.0 million.

The facility is available to employees regardless of their employment status. It is intended to relieve employers of the cash-flow and management burden of abrupt staff loans which ordinarily may not fit into existing criteria.

The product is designed for all staff, from shop-floor employees to middle and senior managers who need cash quickly and can repay on payday.

The employee submits a quick application form through the employer, together with the previous month's payslip and a copy of a National ID. The loan shall be approved within 4 hours and funds disbursed through a mobile wallet or bank account. The entire loan, including interest, shall be recovered within the same month.

Emergency Loans

Financial assistance for permanently employed staff facing unexpected expenses such as medical bills, funerals and school fees.

10% per month on declining balance

The facility is available to permanently employed staff. The emergency advance is available for emergencies including medical bill shortfalls, funerals, school fees and other urgent needs.

An employee is eligible to receive an amount equivalent to one month's salary, recoverable over 3 months at 10% per month calculated on a declining balance.

There are no processing fees or other charges on this facility. Debt service capacity is not considered when submitting the application.

House Rent Advances

Financial support that enables employees to receive their house allowance in advance to secure suitable accommodation.

10% per month on declining balance

The facility is available to employees, and the amount is equivalent to, or a multiple of, the house allowance paid by the organisation to the employee.

In essence, staff receive their house allowance in advance through House Rental Advances. The facility attracts 10% per month calculated on a declining balance.

The facility is available to employees regardless of their employment status. Its intention is to relieve employers of the cash-flow and management burden associated with House Rental Advances.

The product is designed for all staff, especially shop-floor employees, middle managers and senior managers who need cash to pay landlords in advance to secure accommodation and repay within the same period the rentals fall due.

Personal Loans

Flexible financing designed to help working people improve their living standards and acquire essential household and consumer goods.

72 months maximum repayment

The facility is designed to assist working people at whatever level to improve their living standards in a manner that enables them to acquire necessary consumer durables and lead a decent and comfortable life.

For employers, the facility is intended to relieve them of the cash-flow and management burden associated with personal loans or staff loans generally.

It is ideally designed for consumer durable purchases such as sofa sets, dining sets, display cabinets, fridges, cookers, TV screens and decoders, motor vehicles and other approved needs.

Personal loans are recoverable over a maximum period of 72 months.

The employee completes a Personal Loan Application Form and submits it through the employer, together with payslips for the previous 3 months, a copy of a National ID Card, employer ID, utility bill and bank statements.

The facility shall be approved within 5 days and, once the loan has been accepted, disbursement through direct transfer to a bank account shall be made a day later.

The entire loan, including interest, shall be recovered within 72 months or the period selected by the customer based on affordability.

Mortgage Loans

A long-term financing solution designed to assist public servants in owning a decent home of their own.

20 years maximum repayment

The facility is designed to assist public servants in owning a decent home of their own.

The public servant must own the requisite land, demarcated and approved by the local authorities for residential purposes, and must have valid title to the land.

First Microfinance Centre will construct the house and hand it over to the public servant.

The recovery period is a maximum of 20 years or the period chosen by the borrower depending upon affordability.

The employer must guarantee the facility and undertake to deduct and remit monthly loan repayments to the designated First Microfinance Centre Ltd bank account.
